Meet our Writers: Chloé
Hey hey! My name is Chloé and I’m a first generation Ugandan American who lives in the Inland Empire.
Where is Uganda you may ask? Well it’s right smack dab in the middle of Africa and famously known as the Pearl of Africa. A fun fact about Uganda that I love to share is that the Nile River starts at Lake Victoria and goes up toward Egypt.
I would love to say that I’m a very adventurous person and that is reflected in what I like to get involved in at UCI.
During my time at UCI I have been involved in the SPOP Mentorship Program, where I got to be mentored by one of my SPOP staffers. I also got the pleasure of being a mentee and then a mentor in the Visions Leadership Program, a two-quarter professional development program, and got to fulfill an advocacy project which implemented free emergency rain ponchos for students who need them on campus.
I am involved with the Associated Students of UCI, where I worked under Academic Affairs as a lead mentor to cater to first generation low income students and am now serving under the Concerts Commission.
I also walk backwards for a living as a Campus Representative! So if you ever need any random facts I will surely have some in store!
As you can tell I love trying new things. Some cool fun facts about me are I actually don’t like avocado. A Californian who doesn’t like avocados? Rare, but we exist!
Music is an extremely big part of my life and I love how transformative and universal it is, how one song can mean so much to millions around the world is truly powerful! In everything I do, I hope to one day have the same impact on other people that music has on me! Other hobbies that spark my joy are photography, hiking, and reading. In my last two years at UCI, I hope to continue to refine those skills through clubs and experiences!
