Meet our Writers: Maria
Hello Anteaters! My name is Maria, and I am a fourth year education sciences major. I was born in Mexico, but at the age of 4 moved with my family to California and have lived here ever since.
I am currently pursuing the career of an elementary school teacher, and hope to attain my master’s degree and credentials in the next few years. Since I was little I knew I wanted to be a teacher, and I think the environment my teachers created for me played a major role in that. I cannot wait to one day have my own classroom and help shape the minds of the next generation.
As the first in my family to go to college, I have had to figure out a lot on my own. Although it has been challenging at times, I have a great support system at UCI to go to. I hope that my future blogs are helpful to anyone in a similar situation, and that you can find comfort in knowing that you are not alone and have a lot of people around you willing to help. These last four years have been some of the most incredible and shaping years of my life, and I cannot wait to share that all with you.
